Internship - Bird Stories Podcast Production
Birds Canada is a non-profit, charitable organization built on the enthusiastic contributions of thousands of caring members and volunteer Citizen Scientists. Our mission is to conserve wild birds through sound science, on-the-ground actions, innovative partnerships, public engagement, and science-based advocacy. Birds Canada will be producing a monthly podcast with the first episode airing in early 2021. The Bird Stories Podcast will dive into the faces, challenges, and hopes behind the birds we love; aiming to capture a wide audience ranging from experienced birders to people discovering the wonder of birds for the first time. Two regular hosts and a variety of guests will be featured. Working with students, we would like to take advantage of the trend and create a season of our own podcast. We would like for students to deliver a 5-episode podcast series, based on our outcome objectives. Students could accomplish the following: Script each podcast episode. Edit the recorded audio for final publication. Coach participants for success on the microphone. Provide recommendations on increasing listenership. Recording interviews with multiple hosts and guests; utilizing software for remote guests Publishing podcast to online hosting platforms and the Birds Canada website Prepare/assist with show descriptions, show notes and category listings Source sound files for usage as needed (i.e. bird calls) Assist with the development of an intro/outro Provide feedback to hosts and supervisor to improve content quality
Internship Marketing Research
We have data on our audience but would like to have a deeper understanding of their preferences, interests, and needs. We want students to help us collect data through primary and secondary research, analyze the findings, and provide the results in the form of market/persona segments.
