Details

Birds Canada is a non-profit, charitable organization built on the enthusiastic contributions of thousands of caring members and volunteer Citizen Scientists. Our mission is to conserve wild birds through sound science, on-the-ground actions, innovative partnerships, public engagement, and science-based advocacy.

Birds Canada produces a monthly podcast since July 2021. The Warblers talks about the faces, challenges, and hopes behind the birds we love; aiming to capture a wide audience ranging from experienced birders to people discovering the wonder of birds for the first time. Two regular hosts and a variety of guests will be featured.

Working with students, we would like to take advantage of the trend and create a season of our own podcast. We would like for students to prepare podcast promos for sponsors and/or help produce episodes.

Students could accomplish the following:

  • Edit the recorded audio for final publication.
  • Assess sponsor needs.
  • Determine the concept for the promo and write the copy.
  • Provide recommendations on increasing listenership.
  • Source sound files for usage as needed (i.e. bird calls)
