Project feedback
In my time spent at YIC these past 2 months, I have seen significant growth in the skills I initially brought to the role. I received significant feedback on each deliverable from our Executive Director, Shitangshu that contributed to keeping all designs in line with the organization's core values. Regular weekly meetings with the entire team also proved a great support when it came to receiving constructive feedback. All in all, this internship has been a pivotal step in my journey towards all things design, and I look forward to carrying these skills forward into wherever I find myself next.

Grant Writing & Partnership Development

The main goal of this project is to help the team in securing funding for the Youth Impact Challenge and develop strategic partnerships to support our mission and initiatives. This includes sustaining and expanding programs aimed at empowering young changemakers and fostering innovation to address social and environmental challenges. As such we would like to collaborate with students to find and complete grant applications or other prospective funders. This will involve several different steps, including: Familiarizing themselves with our mission, vision and projects Contributing to the ongoing development of documentation like a funding prospectus that better captures the impact of our past work and the need for future funding Identifying potential sponsors and funding opportunities that are a good fit for our organization and project, while adding these to our prospect list Improving the clarity and persuasiveness of our company's grant proposal writing, working closely with senior management on such proposals Identifying new opportunities for projects that YIC can take on in alignment with our mission, needs for youth in the innovation space and funder priorities

Market Validation for the ImpactFirst Accelerator Project

YIC is looking to launch an accelerator for youth-led non-profits in late 2024 or 2025. This project will look to provide youth-led ventures in the non-profit or cooperative space with funding, education, networks & mentorship to help grow and ultimately sustain their ventures long-term, with an eye on ensuring their impact can be maintained over time. To do this, we are looking to gain a better understanding of the ecosystem that exists within our space to support youth non-profit founders, especially as we look to launch in late 2024 or 2025 an accelerator for youth non-profit founders. We believe this accelerator will be among the first of its kind for youth at a nationwide level, but recognize that there are likely support networks already there that we should understand and look to leverage where possible. Equally, we want to conduct interviews and surveys with youth currently running such non-profit or cooperative ventures to better understand their challenges. This will help in program design and help in a more systematic way to validate findings from internal conversations that we have had with young youth founders across Canada.

Brand Identity and Graphic Design

Our company is looking to solidify our identity and revamp the sponsorship prospectus that we currently have as well as other social media advertising assets. We are looking to better connect with our audience by standing out and being memorable while also being able to use the designs the students offer in a corporate setting. We are looking for real designs that we could use in our branding as well as general branding knowledge. The right candidate would work to create consistent promotional branding and create a sponsorship prospectus and sponsorship and social media collateral for us. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Researching the brand identity. Sponsorship and Social media design proposals that reflect who we are Work to create a branding guide for us to reference Help create prototypes using software tools that can be implemented in our marketing Creating custom branding sheets with colours and logos.
