Bring on one or more 3rd year students from College of the North Atlantic in the 3 year Electrical Engineering Technology program to be your interns, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the co-op work term period. Students are available for 420 hours of placement from May 10, 2021 to August 27, 2021.

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project. The student should complete 420 hours with your organization by August 27, 2021. Co--op work terms are remunerated
All Co-op Programs and positions require students to be paid
The Co-op Office uses a competitive process which allows students equal access and opportunity to apply on, be interviewed for (when qualified) and offered opportunities. The Co-op Office can advertise postings, collect applications and arrange interviews.
Wage Subsidies may be available to qualifying companies

Electrical Engineering Technology (Power & Controls) Co-op is a three-year cooperative education program providing a comprehensive coverage of the electrical power discipline with emphasis on power systems, control systems and electrical design .Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student and your company a tangible goal.
Co-op students will be able to:
- Evaluate, design and specify facility electrical systems such as power, lighting, heating, control and protection.
- Design and specify electrical generation, transmission and distribution systems.
- Design, test, analyze and commission industrial electrical power control systems.
- Coordinate, plan, direct and interface with other electrical industry professionals as part of a technical support team.
- Analyze, configure and assist in the electrical design of control systems in commercial and industrial applications employing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Design and specify electrical systems found in electrical utilities and industrial plants.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical equipment such as motors, generators, transformers, protection and control devices.
- Employ the use of power electronic circuits in the electrical design of commercial and industrial systems utilized by the electrical power industry.
- Apply knowledge of current applicable codes, practices and safety standards.
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Meeting with Co-op Coordinator for a mid-term site visit to discuss student progress and complete a student evaluation (20% of final grade). Review, critique and sign off on final work term report (50% of final grade). Complete a final employer evaluation (30% of final grade) providing critical feedback on student progress during the work term
Providing a job description and interviewing students
Offering a paid work term for a duration of 12 -16 weeks.
Assigning a mentor to the student.
Providing relevant professional and technical experience, and progressive responsibilities when possible.
