communicationWe want to improve communication with Indigenous students who have been newly admitted to the College of Arts and Science ahead of their first term (Fall 2023). Our goal is to initiate a communication pilot that will include a phone call campaign to share information about Indigenous Student Achievement Pathways (ISAP) Summer Start programming, Arts and Science Orientation, and to connect students who have questions to effective resources. The selected student will play a key role in developing a transcript for phone calls, complete between 200-300 phone calls, and record commonly asked questions to develop an FAQ resource to guide a renewed first year communications strategy for Indigenous learners.
- develop a phone transcript/call guide in consultation with the ISAP staff and Arts and Science Indigenous Student Liasion Officer
- initiate phone calls with 200-300 students
- record notes to allow follow up on phone calls, such as email communications from the ISAP staff team
- synthesize notes to prepare an FAQ resource, which will be used to initiate a renewed First Year Indigenous Student Communications Strategy
The ISAP Staff team will work with the selected student(s) to develop a telephone script/call guide in preparation for the telephone call campaign. A Teams account will be created to allow phone calls to be completed on or off site, allowing hybrid work flow throughout the call campaign. The ISAP Team Lead and Arts and Science Indigenous Student Recruitment Liasion will provide support and coaching throughout the project, and work with the selected student(s) to analyze notes taken throughout the call campaign to prepare an FAQ resource.
