Details

We are interested in developing a highly detailed BIM model of a of a 3-storey Mass timber office building. The main objective is to provide a design example and a case study for educators to help teach architecture, engineering, and construction management students how to design, and construct, these types of low-rise commercial wood buildings.

A complete structural design of a typological mass timber office has been completed by Fast+Epp in Vancouver. This would convey the grid spacing, structural elements, and sizing. PDF drawings for this would be provided.

Ideally, the the deliverable would be an architectural BIM model using Autodesk REVIT or similar application. Some items to consider would be:

1. The BIM model will include the architectural and structural elements required for visualization with high accuracy. We would like to target a LOD of 300, and possibly 350 if possible.

2. Prepare a set of sample Construction Document level architectural drawings for the building.

3. Produce high quality renderings and possibly a VR tour of the model.

4. Employ parametric design tools to optimize office layout.

Once completed the BIM file would be made freely available to educators in Canada for use in-class, for assignments, or as a project template.
