communication municipal waste management database development**Project open to both university courses and we will consider applicants for the Level UP 80 hours initiative as well
Background information:
Sustainable Life App's Recycling and Compost project is designed to improve municipal waste management strategies. The intent of this technology is to increase municipal diversion rates and reduce recycling stream contamination. To accomplish this, we must first develop a database that municipalities can adapt to depict their diversion preferences, which will later be communicated through our platform to municipal residents. This communication medium is designed to improve residential waste diversion practices.
Main Objectives:
This project will require the development of a Master Database that would contain all sub-categorized waste materials organized into major categories. All categories need to be manipulatable by various municipalities to set their preferences according their diversion practices (where certain materials are diverted to is not generally the same among different municipalities). Additionally, this database would contain private organizations (which SLA has partnered with) that handle item repairs and specialty item disposal. These private organization entries will contain sub-categorized lists (similar to the municipal list detailed above) will inform users of the items that can be dropped-off/repaired at their location. Once again, this list needs to be transmutable so that the organizations can change the materials or objects they accept or don’t.
The intention is to have 3 main master lists (Municipal material diversion, Repair facilities, Drop-off Centers) that Sustainable Life App could present to future partners (either municipalities or private organizations) to expedite their on-boarding as they update their preferences. Municipal preferences need to be coordinated with geolocations so the app would update the data displayed on the app based on the user’s location.
Intellectual Property and Non-Disclosure Agreements:
We will require all participants of this project to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreements and an Intellectual Property document, before work on the project begins.
