The goal of this project is to create a comprehensive map of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) that highlights the experiences of black renters. This will involve several different steps for the learners, including:


  • Researching and gathering data on the experiences of black renters in the GTA.
  • Creating a comprehensive map of the GTA using QGIS.
  • Analyzing the data to identify areas of concern and potential solutions.
  • Developing a narrative to explain the data and its implications.
  • Presenting the map and narrative to stakeholders.


Deliverables

By the end of the project, learners should demonstrate:

  • Understanding of the experiences of black renters in the GTA.
  • Ability to create a comprehensive map of the GTA using QGIS.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify areas of concern and potential solutions.
  • Ability to develop a narrative to explain the data and its implications.
  • Ability to present the map and narrative to stakeholders.
Mentorship
  • Project Definition: Clearly define the project's objectives, scope, and expected outcomes. Ensure that students understand the project's purpose and goals.
  • Training and Onboarding: Provide comprehensive training and onboarding sessions to familiarize students with the project, its context, and any relevant tools or technologies.
  • Project Management: Assign a project manager or leader who will oversee the project's progress, coordinate tasks, and ensure timelines are met.
  • Regular Meetings: Schedule regular meetings to track progress, discuss challenges, and provide guidance. These meetings can be in-person or virtual, depending on the project's nature and the students' location.
  • Feedback and Guidance: Offer continuous feedback and guidance to students throughout the project. Encourage open communication and address any questions or concerns promptly.
