effective communication planning cognitive science communication key performance indicators (kpis) target audience marketing decision making market research researchOur company, Ugeddit, is about helping people be heard and feel connected. We would like to work with students to design a campaign that increase awareness of effective and helpful social, people, and communication skills.
In collaboration with Ugeddit's CEO, and willing community volunteers, students will design and carry out a campaign strategy around bringing awareness to the problems caused by ineffective communication, and the benefits of using a communication skillset we created, based on cognitive science, called CNC (Core Needs Communication).
This project will involve several steps, including:
1. Familiarizing yourself with the purpose we're serving, and our company mission & goals
2. Deciding the campaign's ideal outcome and high-level roadmap (which will include steps like "Research ideal groups & individuals to target", and others)
3. Deciding KPIs (key performance indicators) to measure the success of our overall campaign
4. Defining roles which can focus on achieving specific parts of our roadmap, which will be defined as "internal roles"
5. Identifying potential sponsors, partners, and others who could help support our completion and/or success of our campaign, which will be defined as "external roles"
6. Deciding which roles you and other students want to focus on fulfilling, to achieve our ideal outcome
Bonus steps would include:
- Completing our roadmap steps beyond the planning phase, such as
- Reaching out to identified ideal groups and individuals
- And further steps we had chosen together
By the end of the project, students will have gained
- A clear understanding of the company purpose, mission, and goals
- Basic knowledge of effective communication from our system
- Experience using a top-down planning process, and creating a roadmap
- Working knowledge of using personas and a people-first decision-making mindset
- Experience doing market research, and creating a marketing plan
Final deliverables include
- A S.M.A.R.T. ideal outcome for the campaign
- A campaign roadmap with high-level steps
- 3 or more identified high-value target groups/communities
- A case study detailing
1. The context and ideal outcome of the project
2. How the project was planned to be done
3. The problems encountered along the way, along with the solutions/workarounds which were used to continue past them
4. How the project was actually done after adjusting for unexpected changes
5. 3 things that each team member accomplished (no matter how small)
6. The final results of the project in terms of
- Whether or not the defined ideal outcome was achieved
- A 1-paragraph (4-6 sentences) description of the team's opinion of how the project started, changed along the way, and completed
7. The things that were learned while doing the project (no matter how small)
- A 10-minute presentation going through the case study, expanding on relevant details that are not included in it
Bonus deliverables can include
- 1 or more identified high-value sponsors, partners, or other additional supporters
- 3 or more identified high-value target individuals within each target group/community (+1 for every 3 target individuals)
Students can connect directly with us for mentorship & guidance throughout the project. We can provide answers to questions such as
