online communication ethical standards and conductThe Health and Human Services Management Post-Diploma Certificate program builds upon the student’s expertise from their health or human services diploma or degree and prepares them for leadership roles within an organization. Students from this program take business courses along with discipline-specific electives in preparation for leading and managing in the complex landscape of the helping professions.
Partner with our students as they apply their disciplinary knowledge to address needs or challenges identified by your organization through a project, event, or activity. This collaboration provides your organization with innovative solutions and support while enriching the students’ education with practical experience. Service learning is augmented with 30-hours of classroom seminar time.
Highlights:
- We will work with you to help identify suitable projects.
- Students spend 45 hours meeting needs identified by your organization through a project, event, or activity.
- Two options: May-June (45 hours) OR May-August (45 hours)
- Service learning opportunities are offered to individual students or student groups.
- Students have supervising faculty to provide support, guidance, and opportunities for critical reflection throughout this experience.
- This is an unpaid experiential learning opportunity.
Our students can:
- Provide your organization with innovative solutions and fresh perspectives on community-centered challenges.
- Create and/or participate in fundraising initiatives.
- Develop and facilitate employee training and community workshops.
- Develop community engagement strategies.
- Develop consumer or client information material.
- Assess workplace processes and practices and develop recommendations.
Learners
Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the students and the organization.
Some final project deliverables might include:
- A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
- A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations

Project Examples
Requirements
Students in groups of 2-6 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations based on their in-depth research and analysis.
Project examples may include:
- Create a campaign focused on community health and wellness promotion or prevention.
- Design or evaluate programming.
- Plan or support the planning of an event or fundraising activity.
- Develop health or community education workshops and/or informational fairs.
- Create a guidebook or toolkit.
- Create workplace health education material and promotion.
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
How is your project relevant to the course?
Provide relevant information/data as needed for the project.
Do you have capacity to provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback?
Will you be able to provide a representative of the company to answer questions from students in a timely manner for the duration of the project?
