Learner goals and capabilities

Student group(s) will review and understand the system/concept/expectation, review literature, develop appropriate models for the thermodynamic/heat transfer devices. If necessary, they will evaluate and assess the components and features of the system to suggest and develop alternative, cost-effective, and efficient models.

In groups of max 4 students, 3rd/4th-year students in Mechanical Engineering will spend in total 35 hours each student working with your company to develop, analyze, evaluate, model and/or design concept of interest.

Project Examples

Requirements
  1. Analyze, perform and conduct preliminary study and design of various thermodynamic and heat transfer systems such as turbine, pump, condenser, conductors, heating, cooling and heat exchangers systems
  2. Apply engineering design and analysis techniques to various thermodynamic cycles and heat-transfer devices such as Rankine, refrigeration, internal combustion cycles
  3. Conduct heat transfer analysis on any systems due to conduction, convection and radiation
  4. Conduct energy and cost analysis of various thermofluidic systems
