Expected outcomes and deliverables

Phase 1- Project Plan: Students will meet with organization representative(s) to devise the project scope and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.

Phase 2 - Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.

Phase 3 - Outcome: Students will submit a 10-page report on their findings and recommendations, including a plan to implement and changes to HR strategy, policy, or practices.

Project Examples

Requirements

Beginning September, a group of four business students will work on a project to improve one of your HR policies or practices.

They will conduct an audit of an employment system chosen by you. Based on your goals and input, the students will review, analyze and provide actionable recommendations for improvement. Students will provide an objective perspective and informed insights on HR best practices.

The findings of their analysis will allow you to improve employee commitment to your organization.

Project examples include:

• Designing a health and safety program

• Addressing a training and development requirement

• Designing and conducting a survey of employee commitment in an organization

• Improving union and management relations

• Managing contingent workers

• Structuring an organization and designing jobs within the organization

• Developing a diversity and inclusion program

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.

Minimum of 2-4 interactions with the students in-person or remotely (approximately 4-6 hours over the duration of the project).

Provide a dedicated contact who will be available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address student's questions or provide additional information
