business analysis critical thinking community outreach marketing management decision making research and developmentThis course provides students with the opportunity to work with a hands-on project in a relevant topic area. This is an experiential course and it is designed to foster critical thinking and real-time decision making, with students applying their knowledge and skills to the challenge at hand. We are beginning the Fall semester, completion will be by mid-December 2021.
We have a confidentiality agreement with all “clients”. In addition, the work becomes the intellectual property of the “client” so we don’t share it with others- it is theirs. .

Here is a summary of activities performed by our students Since January 2020, 37 projects with ~200 students.

• 6 Business Analysis and Improvement Plans

• 3 Research and Development Plans
The feedback has been extremely positive with several clients having secondary and tertiary projects based upon the outcomes.

Project Examples
Requirements
A team of 4-6 graduate level students are selected to work with businesses and non-profit organizations on such things as business plans for start-ups, financial analysis, marketing plans, viability analysis, process improvements, and strategic plans. We use Lean Six Sigma project methodology, when there are problems beyond the scope of the instructor, we draw upon the other professors at CBU to provide expertise.
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
