Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from University of Southampton Business School to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Sustainability is increasingly on the minds of key stakeholder groups, preparing including Investors, lenders, customers, suppliers and Employees. A Sustainability Report prepared by Southampton students provides your organisation the opportunity to:

  • Seek out and gather important data, that might not otherwise be brought to the attention of management
  • Reflect on your current position and whether this meets your expectations
  • Think strategically, set appropriate targets, KPIs and measure your progress towards them
  • Communicate all of this to internal and external stakeholders

Expected outcomes and deliverables

The deliverables from this phase will include certificates given to the students as evidence of their proficiency in preparing sustainability reports; the sustainability reports produced for the SMEs. The reports can be used as evidence to their supply chain by the SMEs to demonstrate how they are taking care of their environmental, economic, and social impacts. The SMEs will also get a report from the students advising what actions each SMEs should take to address negative environmental, economic, and social impacts identified in the sustainability report.

Project Examples

Requirements

Students in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.

Project activities that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

  • Interviews with SME owners to determine effective ways to engage them in SR
  • Disclosure of environmental, social and economic activities practices as well as governance issues
  • Provide a more holistic picture of an organization's activities from all dimensions of sustainability
