Details

The goal of this project is to review Canada's federal budgets from the past 5 years as to assess how well the actions and investments made by the federal government, align with the policy recommendations made by CanAge's Senior VOICES policy report. CanAge is a National Seniors Advocacy Organization, our VOICES 2020 report outlines major policy recommendations that we believe are necessary to ensure the rights and safety of the aging community in Canada. Through a historic review of past federal budgets CanAge seeks to measure the progress that the government has made regarding Senior Care. These findings will be used in CanAge's advocacy efforts and inform future policy recommendations.

Deliverables

Participants will be responsible for reviewing federal budgets for their assigned years, taking note of the investments and funding allocations that are promised or given within each budget. Participants will then compare the noted funding allocations to CanAge's list of recommendations, in which participants will be responsible for noting the federal investments that match or relate to the given policy recommendations.

The end deliverable for this project will be a completed template sheet for each assigned year, detailing the aspects of each federal budget that align with CanAge's VOICES recommendations.

Mentorship

Participants will be given a dedicated contact and mentor for the project. This mentor will provide training sessions to guide new participants on how to efficiently and thoroughly review a federal budget, as well as how to properly report or document notes on a given budget. Furthermore, participants will be given access to company Slack channels as to provide easy and accessible means of communication with the dedicated project mentor.
