Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from NAIT to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.


Learners in this program/experience the knowledge and skills acquired during the first, second and third semesters of the DMIT program. Students or student teams will develop a project from analysis, through design, to development for an industry client. To

further simulate the business environment, the teams will present their findings through both oral presentation and written documentation.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the learners and the organization. 


Some final project deliverables might include: 

  1. A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations
  3. Prototype application/website

Project Examples

Requirements

Learners in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.


Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to: 

Front end and back end software programming languages/tools/concepts (various languages, may include JavaScript, SQL server database, Github, relational database/API sources)

Project approach: Jira software for Kanban/Scrum project management

HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

Internet-based applications, database services for On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP)

Business intelligence solutions that may include creating a data mart, ETL processes, multi-dimensional cube, and reports



Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the experience.

Provide a dedicated contact person who is available for weekly/bi-weekly drop-ins to address learners’ questions as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project.
